Clinton Woman Killed In Crash
A 60-year-old woman from Clinton suffered fatal personal injuries on March 20 in a single-vehicle accident on Mount Moriah Church Road in Sampson County, said the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The woman, Juanita Blanton Garner, was transported by helicopter to Duke Medical Center in Durham after the crash. She later died at the hospital.
The accident took place shortly after 4:30 p.m., approximately five miles north of Clinton.
Another passenger in the vehicle, 9-year-old Clinton resident Haley Garner, a grandchild of Juanita Garner, received transport to Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. She was released after undergoing treatment.
Juanita Garner was northbound on Mount Moriah Church Road when the vehicle she was driving ran off the road while rounding a curve. The vehicle hit a ditch beside a private driveway. She became trapped in the vehicle, which had to be moved to free her.
