Clinton Man Killed When Vehicle Overturns Multiple Times
Police say a man died of the personal injuries he suffered on September 3 when his vehicle ran off Beaman Woods Road near Clinton and overturned multiple times.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper C.H. Strickland, the crash occurred shortly before noon approximately four miles southeast of Clinton.
Strickland said that 24-year-old Clinton resident Nery Matias Vazquez was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Strickland, Vazquez was southbound in a 1995 GMC sport utility vehicle when he ran off the road to the right. The SUV then reentered the road and overturned after once again leaving the right side of the road and hitting a ditch. Vazquez was ejected during the crash.
Strickland did not say whether or not Vazquez was wearing his seat belt, but did report that he was alone in the vehicle and was traveling at speed of 70 mph in a 55 mph zone.
