Cleveland County Man's Cookie Craving Leads To Accident
A 77-year-old North Carolina man’s craving for his favorite oatmeal cookies resulted in him winding up suffering personal injuries and spending a cold night in his car at the bottom of a ditch.
According to reports from several media outlets, Arthur McKenzie told hospital workers that while he was driving to the store to buy some of his favorite cookies on November 25, a deer ran in front of his vehicle. He said he ended up down an embankment so steep he wasn’t able to climb out.
McKenzie said he planned on driving about five miles to the store and back to his home in Cleveland County due to running out of cookies. However, the deer interrupted his trip over a winding, remote country road.
McKenzie was listed in stable condition at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
