Clayton Teenager Killed In Crash

North Carolina state troopers said that on the night of January 14, a teenager from Clayton suffered fatal personal injuries after a wreck in which his vehicle overturned.

Friends of the victim, 18-year-old Kyle Kozlowski, said that he was a senior at Clayton High School.

According to troopers, the vehicle Kozlowski was driving swerved several times across Loop Road, at Covered Bridge Road, at about 11 p.m. The vehicle ran into a ditch to the right of the road, overturned, and collided with multiple trees.

Troopers said Kozlowski was partially ejected and died of his injuries.

According to Phillip Worrell, a friend of Kozlowski who was driving in front of them as they were returning from Wal-Mart, Kozlowski passed him in a passing zone on Loop Road and then wrecked in a curve.

Further details were not immediately made available other than troopers saying alcohol was not a factor and that no one else was injured.
