Church Visitor Files Suit After Speaker Falls On Her

A personal injury suit was filed on December 15 in St. Clair County, Illinois Circuit Court by Francis Williams against Fellowship Christian Church, alleging that she suffered a broken left hand after a speaker she was standing near fell.

According to the suit, Williams was a visitor at the church at the time of the incident, which took place on July 20.

Williams claims that, in addition to her broken left hand, she incurred medical expenses, use of her hand has been impaired, diminished, and made painful, and she is now predisposed to develop premature arthritis in her left hand due to the fall.

Williams alleges negligence on the part of Disciple Fellowship Christian Church for failure to properly secure the speaker and its stand, inviting her to approach the speaker’s location, failure to limit the number of people around the speaker, and failure to warn of the dangerous condition of the speaker. She seeks damages in excess of $50,000.
