The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that a man from Chapel Hill suffered fatal personal injuries early on the morning of November 3 in a single-vehicle crash that occurred less than a mile from his home.
Trooper C.J. Oxendine said that 32-year-old Wesley Lowder was heading southwest on Damascus Church Road near Smith Level Road when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road.
Oxendine said that Lowder’s vehicle hit a highway sign and then a utility pole before it overturned. He was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was on his way home.
The crash’s cause remains under investigation.
