Cary Man Dies In Beltline Crash
On the morning of July 10, a man from Cary suffered fatal personal injuries after the car he was driving ran off the Beltline and collided with a guardrail in Raleigh, according to a police report released on July 12.
The accident report said that 39-year-old Eugene Villanueva Gonzalves died at the scene of the accident.
Investigators have not released a cause for the accident, but have ruled out drugs, alcohol, and speed as factors.
The single-vehicle accident took place shortly before 1 a.m. on Interstate 440 near Western Boulevard. Officer R.T. Pereira reported that Gonzalves was northbound in a 1999 Lexus when he veered left, crossed the center-line and collided head-on with the guardrail.
