Car Splits In Accident
Markee D. Strickland, 18, was killed Thursday evening when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle on West Castalia in Nash County. The vehicle driven by Strickland was split in half.
Strickland was thrown from his vehicle and landed in the roadway.
The other vehicle, a Chevrolet truck, ran off the right side of the road, hit an embankment and turned over.
According to witnesses, Strickland was speeding and attempted to pass a white van just prior to the accident.
It appeared Strickland saw an oncoming vehicle, attempted to move back in behind the van when he lost control and hit the truck.
Due to the damage to Strickland’s vehicle, it could not be determined if he was wearing a seatbelt.
