Car Overturns When Woman Attempts To Avoid Squirrel In Wilmington

A woman received transport to the hospital on February 15 for the personal injuries she suffered after her car overturned while she was attempting to avoid a squirrel on River Road in Wilmington, according to officials.

According to Cpl. M.G. Beguhl of the Wilmington Police Department, the driver was conscious and talking while she was being transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

At approximately 1 p.m., the woman was southbound on River Road between the intersections of Independence Boulevard and Sanders Road when she swerved to avoid a squirrel, ran off the road to the right, overcorrected, and ran off the road to the left.

The black four-door sedan flipped and ended up on its roof in the grass on the left side of the road.
