Caldwell Man Dies In Collision
Caldwell Man Dies In Collision
A Caldwell County man was one of two people killed in an accident on Sunday.
Jeremy G. Bolick, 23, died in the accident on U.S. 221.
Bolick was driving a 2008 Ford Mustang near Woodlawn when he collided with a 2006 Chrysler occupied by Jeffrey and Cynthia Bassett of Florida.
The accident killed Bolick along with Charles T. Wright, 20, of Blowing Rock.
The Bassetts, both in their 50s, were transported to Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. Mr. Bolick was admitted to the neurotrauma intensive care unit.
Bolick and Wright were volunteer firefighters for Blowing Rock Fire and Rescue. They had been in McDowell County attending a training course.
Reports state that Bolick was traveling about 75 mph in a 50 mph zone. It was raining heavy at the time of the accident. Bolick’s vehicle hydroplaned and slid sideways in to the southbound lane hitting Bassett's vehicle.
A Highway Patrol reconstruction team was called to analyze the accident.
