On December 14, the North Carolina Highway Patrol officially charged a Wake County school bus driver in a December 4 crash in which a Raleigh firefighter suffered fatal personal injuries.
According to Sgt. Jeff Gordon of the NCHP, 52-year-old Garner resident Sheila Wimbush Hall was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after the crash that took place on Ligon Mill Road in north Raleigh.
On December 11, 35-year-old Wake Forest resident Lt. Harry P. “Flip” Kissinger died of the injuries he suffered in the crash.
Kissinger was returning home from Fire Station 6 in Raleigh when the school bus driven by Hall collided with his pickup truck. The bus crashed into a ditch, pinning Kissinger inside the truck.
Trooper say Hall was at fault because she crossed the center line and collided with a westbound station wagon, then continued into the oncoming lane, where she struck Kissinger’s truck.
Hall will likely not serve any jail time if convicted, due to a clean driving record. Her most likely sentence would be community service or probation, according to authorities.
