Bicyclist Fatally Struck By Vehicle Near Concord

On March 17, 35-year-old Adam Wesley Little, a noted bicyclist and manager of a Carolinas racing team, died of the personal injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car while riding his bike near Concord.

According to police, Little, a Mount Pleasant resident, was fatally struck while riding south to his workplace on N.C. 49 near U.S. 601 at around 7:30 a.m.

Police charged the driver of the 1995 Nissan that struck Little, 24-year-old Stacy Renee Shaw, with misdemeanor death by vehicle and a child restraint violation.

Little managed the Subaru Gary Fisher Road Team, a professional cycling team whose founders include former Lance Armstrong teammate George Hincapie. The team consists of 22 members and competes in races nationwide. Little was considered a successful racer, having won several events in recent years.

According to police, Little was wearing proper safety gear and had a safety light on the rear of his bike.
