Arrest Made In Statesville In Hit-And-Run Death
A Statesville resident, Donna S. Farmer, 34, has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run accident.
Hank Pittman, Jr., 61, was working on a cable television line when he was struck by a vehicle that did not stop.
The Highway Patrol received a tip last Tuesday night just before midnight. Farmer was arrested before dawn on Wednesday morning.
The 1999 Saturn, owned by Farmer was seized and taken to the Highway Patrol garage in Newton.
Farmer was taken to the Alexander County jail where she was charged with felony hit and run and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
Pittman is an employee of Terra Design, Inc. Just prior to being hit he called his employer to advise he had finished his assignment at that location.
Pittman was transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital, and then airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where he later died.
