Apex Woman Killed, Passenger Injured In Crash
A woman from Apex died and another person suffered personal injuries in an October 11 crash in which their vehicle ran off the road and collided with a pine tree, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
According to a spokeswoman for the NCHP, 43-year-old Cynthia Rennee Ellerbee died at the scene. State troopers believe she was driving recklessly.
The crash took place shortly before 8 p.m. on Stepheson Road, less than a mile north of Holly Springs. According to state troopers, Ellerbee’s vehicle ran of the road to the right, struck several mailboxes and a culvert, and collided with a pine tree.
Ellerbee was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Reports that the injured passenger was Ellerbee’s elementary-school-age son were not confirmed.
