Angier Man Injured After Collision On Bike

An Angier man is at WakeMed to recover from the personal injuries he suffered when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Coats.

Thirty-seven-year-old Edward Garrigo was westbound on N.C. 27 on his bike when he was struck from behind by the Chevrolet Cavalier of 18-year-old Dunn resident Megan Nicole Lee.

Garrigo received ambulance transport to WakeMed, where he required a surgical procedure. As of April 24, he remained in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

Garrigo was apparently on his way to Papa John’s at Campbell University in Buies Creek, where he has been employed as a cook since the restaurant opened in January.

Police charged Lee with reckless driving to endanger and failure to reduce speed. She has been scheduled to appear in Harnett County District Court on May 27.
