Accident near Bladenboro Claims Life

An accident near Bladenboro claimed the life of a passenger.

According to a police report, two out of state drivers collided head-on on N.C. 131 near Bladenboro Friday morning. The collision occurred around 2:45 a.m.

The accident was investigated by N.C. State Trooper J.M. Kinlaw.

A 2001 Chrysler driven by Jason Cody Hazard, 18, of Locus Grove, Virginia, was traveling north on N.C. 131 in the southbound lane. Brian Donald Kenney, 32, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania was driving a 2002 Subaru traveling south.

The Subaru was registered to Leah Nicole Sansone, 27, of Enola, Pennsylvania. She was a passenger in her vehicle. Sansone was pronounced dead at Bladen County Hospital.

The Chrysler was registered to Joan Harp of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Jessica Sue Huskey, 18, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, was a passenger in this vehicle.

All of the injured, including Mrs. Sansone's husband and two children were transported to Bladen County Hospital.

The Sansones were headed to Myrtle Beach to visit Mrs. Sansone's mother.

Hazard was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

The accident is still being investigated.
