Accident Leaves Teen In Critical Condition
A Midway High School student is listed in critical condition after an accident last week.
The student remains a patient at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Karson Leigh Autry, 16, was driving south on RP 1451 (Baptist Chapel Road), south of U.S. Highway 13 in the Clement community last Wednesday.
Diana Joy Perez, 31, ran a stop sign and collided with Autry’s 2008 Ford on the passenger side.
Perez, driving a 2005 Chevrolet, had two young children with her.
After impact, Autry’s vehicle crossed a ditch, struck a fence and came to rest in a pasture.
Perez’s vehicle hit a ditch, overturned and came to rest on its side.
Autry was airlifted to UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill.
The two children were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Perez was cited with failure to stop at a stop sign.
