Accident Claims Two Lives

An accident on Monday morning in Robeson claimed the life of a man and a woman.

Marshall C. Heckel 21, of Lumberton along with his girlfriend, Brittany Graybill, 20, of Clayton were traveling on McQueen Road when he drove into the path of a pickup. Graybill was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, where she later died.

Fred N. Gibbs, 40, of Lumberton, was driving the pickup. His seatbelt broke and caused him to be thrown from the vehicle. Gibbs died at the scene of the accident.

Heckel was charged with two counts of misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to yield.
