On September 19, an 8-year-old girl suffered critical injuries in a crash in northeast Raleigh.
According to what eyewitnesses told the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a woman driving a Ford sport utility vehicle ran a red light and T-boned a Pontiac.
The Pontiac, driven by 23-year-old Yeymy Marily Leon Peralta was in the process of making a left hand turn from Michell Mill Road onto Louisburg Road when the Ford, driven by 60-year-old Shirley Louise Jacobs, struck her vehicle.
According to troopers, four people received transport to Wake Medical Center, including the 8-year-old. They say Jacobs was going the speed limit, everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, and no other vehicles were involved.
Officials do not believe drugs, alcohol and weather to be factors in the crash. Charges against Jacobs are pending.
