A Sanford man died of the personal injuries he suffered in a two-car collision in western Harnett County on April 27. His wife and three others also sustained injuries in the crash.
According to Trooper Greg Steffens of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 72-year-old John Hillen Jr. was northbound on N.C. 87 shortly before 4 p.m. when 23-year-old Sanford resident Stephanie Duke turned left onto Olivia Road in front of his vehicle. Hillen died in the ensuing collision.
Hillen’s wife, Lisa Hillen, Duke, and her two children all received transport to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford where they underwent treatment and were released.
Steffens said charges were pending against Duke.
Police do not believe speed to be a factor in the collision and everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
