2-Year-Old Bitten On Neck By Pit Bull

A 2-year-old girl from Wilmington, Delaware suffered serious personal injuries after being bitten by a pit bull that her mother was watching for a neighbor.

According to police spokesman Master Sgt. Paul Reutter, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the girl and her three siblings, ages 9-13, were in the basement with the dog, which their mother had been caring for at their home for the prior few days, when the attack occurred. The toddler was bitten on the right side of her neck.

The other siblings were able to get the dog away from the child and out of the basement, where the attack occurred.

The children alerted the mother, who was in another part of the house.

The attack caused the toddler to sustain a severe cut to the right side of her neck. Her mother was holding her as she bled profusely when officers arrived.

The girl received transport to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, where emergency surgery was performed.

According to Reutter, the girl was listed in stable condition after the surgery.

The pit bull’s owner is a man identified as “DJ,” who lives on the same block.
