Cumberland County Animal Services said that on the afternoon of February 24, a 1-year-old boy sustained personal injuries when he was bitten by a relative’s dog.
Dr. John Lauby, director of Animal Services, said that the boy, whose identity was not made available, suffered puncture wounds under his eye and under his chin after he was bitten around 4:30 p.m. after apparently grabbing and pulling on the dog. He was transport to the hospital for treatment.
Lauby said the child had been laying in the yard of a resident on Abelia Road in Gray’s Creek while the relative’s dog was also in the yard. He said that the dog turned and snapped the child in the face after he pulled on it.
Lauby said the dog ran off when family members ran out of the house screaming.
