An 11-year-old boy remained in the hospital on July 5 after a Huntersville golf cart accident in which he suffered personal injuries.
According to Huntersville police, three boys, ages 11, 8, and 6, drove a golf cart underneath a parked semi-trailer around 8 p.m. on July 3 at a maintenance facility owned by NorthStone Country Club, which is on Ramah Church Road.
Police say the 8- and 11-year-olds were injured and received transport to Carolinas Medical Center. The 8-year-old has since been released, but the 11-year-old remained in the hospital with injuries to the head. The 6-year-old was uninjured.
The boys were riding in a maintenance golf cart with a flatbed on the back. They are related to a maintenance worker.
Police have not said who the driver of the cart when the crash occurred was or if any charges will be filed in connection to the accident.
Under North Carolina law, golf carts are prohibited on state roads, but towns and counties are allowed to decide where and how the carts may be used.
