11-Year-Old Boy Mauled By Great Dane During Charity Dog Walk

According to authorities, an 11-year-old boy from Oklahoma required surgery for the personal injuries he suffered after a Great Dane mauled him.

The police report for the incident said that the dog attacked Troy Helms after he fell during the “Strut Your Mutt” dog walk at Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma on October 10. Helms required more than 100 stitches.

The Humane Society of Grove and Grand Lake sponsored the dog walk.

According to Humane Society vice president Lori Follis, she witnessed the dog bite Helms and clamp down on his face and neck.

According to witnesses, once the dog was pulled away from the child, the owner took the dog and left. Police say the owner was cited.
