Police in Fayetteville said that at least 11 Westover High School students required treatment for the personal injuries they suffered after their school bus was struck from behind on Bonanza Drive on February 2.
Cumberland County Schools bus No. 560 was at the intersection of Bonanza Drive and Morganton Road shortly after 8 a.m. when it was rear-ended by a Subaru, according to Lt. Chris Davis of the Fayetteville Police Department.
Theresa Perry, a spokeswoman for the Cumberland County school system said that initially, no injuries were reported. However, students later complained of pain.
Perry said that the parents of three students took their children to be examined by a doctor. Eight more received ambulance transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Perry said that of the eight that went to the hospital, five had been released by 10:30 a.m.
