10-Year-Old Suffers Facial Injuries In Pit Bull Attack

According to authorities, a 10-year-old boy suffered significant personal injuries to his face on April 16 when he was attacked by his neighbor's pit bull.

Ventura County, California sheriff's officials said the attack took place around 8:30 a.m. in El Rio, California.

The boy was riding a bicycle when the 100-pound dog emerged from a neighboring yard and attacked him, officials said. He fled to a cousin's house for safety.

The owner of the dog told deputies the animal was secured in the backyard. Deputies said that at that point, the dog came out again, but did not act aggressively toward them.

The owner took the dog and placed it in a patrol car. Animal control then quarantined the animal.
